Dr. Oranit's Priorities

Dr. Oranit's TOP Priority - Accessibility
Dr. Oranit will be accessible to you and will have her email address published on the Los Rios Trustee website. Further, she will have regular listening sessions at all four Los Rios campuses so that she can address your needs and concerns.
Students
Students
EQUITABLE
Access
Ensuring that all students, especially those from historically marginalized communities, have equitable access to courses they need to achieve their academic, career, and personal goals at their own pace while also gaining critical thinking and social skills.
AFFORDABLE Education
Increasing funding for Open Education Resources (OER) to help faculty develop quality course materials with peer review and provide it to students at zero cost. Also, advocating for more reliable public transportation to Los Rios colleges.
QUALITY
Services
Providing high quality instruction and services to students by hiring more full-time professors, counselors, librarians, and classified workers. This will reduce the current long waiting lists for courses and long lines at the counseling office, and other student support services.
Faculty and Staff
EQUITABLE
Pay and workload
Advocating for equitable pay and workload among different employee groups. Dr. Oranit highly supports reducing the pay and workload parities between part-time and full-time employees and between entry-level employees and top administrators. Los Rios will serve students better if the above are achieved.
AFFORDABLE
Health Care for All
Supporting all stakeholders' effort to make affordable quality healthcare available for all employees, part-time and full-time. In Dr. Oranit's view, health care is a human right, not a privilege, and no one should have to choose between food and health care for themselves and their family.
PARTICIPATORY
Governance
Amplifying and welcoming students, faculty, and staff voices at all levels. Dr. Oranit firmly believes that student needs should be addressed. Further, at the front lines, faculty need to have academic freedom while staff needs to have a supportive and respectful work environment to do their best to serve students.
